Based on the J1772 universal charging standard, the JuiceBox is a level 2 charging station (240V required) that can power all-electric vehicles on the market today, including Teslas, via an adapter.
The new JuiceBox is currently available in 32 and 40 amp versions, with a 48 amp version coming out very soon and can be ordered with a NEMA 1450 plug or as a wired device. As with the previous JuiceBox, the new versions are WiFi-connected smart chargers and they also come with the JuiceNet app.

Thanks to an extra-long output cable, you don’t have to park in the vicinity of the EVSE to charge your car battery. There is a J-connector attached to the cable that allows you to charge almost all current models of electric vehicles on the market. The cargo box is designed to withstand the harsh elements outside and you can take advantage of the JuicePoints rewards program.
It also comes with a security lock as standard, mainly in case the device is installed outdoors in a public place and the cable is now 7m, 1m longer than previous models. Previously, if you had a JuiceBox and wanted to securely lock it, you had to purchase the Security Lock Bracket for $ 39.99.
JuiceBox 2.0 has a whole new look with an integrated plug sleeve and a cable management system that attaches under the housing for electronics.
JuiceBox Pro 32 is small and measures 10 x 6 x 3.5 inches. It is also Energy Star certified and UL Listed.
Charging your electric vehicle doesn’t take all day. The JuiceBox Pro 32 is rated at 7.7 kilowatt-hours. Since the charging station offers 32 amps of power at full power, it can charge your car in just 4 hours. Of course, when you start charging, the time will vary depending on the EV model and battery level. A built-in indicator light shows you when the EVSE is in charging mode.
A universal J-Plug:
The JuiceBox Pro 32 comes with a J1772 connector that can charge any model of an electric vehicle, including a Tesla if you use a Tesla adapter. The Jplug is connected to a 24ft output cable, which is incredibly long for an EVSE cable. Additionally, the Pro 32 comes with an aluminum bracket for cable management.
JuiceBox’s sleeker new look included an LED bar at the bottom of the head unit that changes color depending on whether the car is charging, finishing charging, or idle between charges. We tested the JuiceBox in our indoor facility and the LEDs looked clear and bright.
The app’s home page also makes little sense. It’s a default card, but there aren’t really any JuiceBox / Exel charging stations in North America, so the card’s function is completely useless. So the only effective use is to monitor your home’s charging or schedule charging times during peak hours when your costs might be lower. Although it claims to be compatible with Alexa and has WiFi, the latest version of the app hangs every time I try to update the charging plan. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, using various WiFi options on my router (standard vs 5.0G), and even going wireless, and the home charger refuses to charge.
Everyone still uses the JuiceNet smart charging pad which allows the user to plan the charging process and view the data of the current and past charging session. You can also limit the performance of the JuiceBox for the vehicle if you want or need it.
Can send you notifications. You can set the JuiceBox app to say, “Hey, at 10 AM, if I’m not online, send me a message to remind me.”
The JuiceBox is also one of the few EVSEs that can participate in utility demand response programs, which can save homeowners a lot of money.
You can still share the load with the JuiceBox, that is, you can install more than one JuiceBox on a single circuit.
Pros and Cons:
Pros: The JuiceBox comes with a 25’ long cable, its case is equipped with a locking mechanism. The JuiceBox has an inbuilt cable and plug holder. There are many more features like this that are mentioned above.
Cons: The locking mechanism is a little flimsy. The owner manual has not been updated after the release of the new model of charger, user manual contains very little information regarding the internet. The new version has a plastic case while the previous version had a metal case. One major issue is that the J1772 jack is a loose fit jack which might create problems sometimes.
